The Studio Magistretti archive contains roughly 30,000 sketches and technical drawings, 7,000 photographs, 3,000 documents and a collection of models and prototypes, documentation produced by the studio over a period in time stretching from 1946 to 2006. In 2007 the Lombardy Superintendent’s Office for Archives declared the fund to be of special historical importance, acknowledging its cultural value and placing it under special protection.

In January 2020 Fondazione Vico Magistretti launches the new website: archivio.vicomagistretti.itas the result of work conducted on the historical archive since 2007. The portal, created thanks to the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo, contains sketches, drawings, plans, project descriptions, patents, photographs, magazine articles, catalogues, and a small amount of correspondence, as well as over 400 historical-critical profiles of projects of architecture and design, implemented or not. All these materials are available for different audiences, from expert researchers to curious design buffs, thanks to various modes of access to the contents: timeline, pathways, key words, georeferenced mapping and, obviously simple and advanced searches.
