Posed architectures - The works of Vico Magistretti in Milan

27.03.2014 / 19.12.2014

Extended until February 14th 2015

Vico Magistretti as architect, narrated with photographs from the archives of the foundation, a video to rediscover his works in Milano, a collective map of the city in which everyone is invited to participate.

For the first time, Fondazione studio museo Vico Magistretti presents an exhibition on Magistretti as architect, working with the photographs of certain buildings that have set the tone of the city of Milan, like the Church of Santa Maria Nascente at QT8 neighborhood (1947-55, with Mario Tedeschi), the Tower at Parco Sempione on Via Revere (1953-56, with Franco Longoni), the building on Via Leopardi (1958-61, with Guido Veneziani), the building on Piazza San Marco (1966-73) and the Department of Biology of the Università degli Studi of Milan (1978-81, with Franco Soro).

A video narrates six buildings by Magistretti through a flight over the city, offering a new,
unusual perspective on the works of architecture.

Milano, Magistretti & Me

Vico’s places and yours, for a collective map of the city.

As in 2013, with My Magistretti (a never-ending project), the Foundation starts with Magistretti’s words to create a new project of participation.

The thoughts and opinions of Vico about Milan are shown on a map of the city, revealing the places he liked, the buildings he designed or those of other architects, his favorites and those he would have like to see demolished, his habitual paths through the city.

Visitors are encouraged to indicate their most beloved or detested places on the map, their everyday itineraries… A collective narrative of urban experiences, to share emotions, thoughts connected with places, the city and its services.

Handwritten quotes of Vico Magistretti on the map by Julia Binfield.

The project is also online: visitors can take pictures or shoot videos around Milan and share them on the Foundation’s Facebook page, using the hashtag #MilanoMagistrettiMe.

During the period of the exhibition conversations and architectural tours will be organized, for further information click here
