SVICOLANDO
Fondazione studio museo Vico Magistretti presents the outdoor museum: 14 buildings and 6 company showrooms in Milan.

In the studio where Vico Magistretti worked there was a mirror on the window, which reflects the Church of the Passion. Looking up from his desk, the architect drew his inspiration from the urban environment reflected inside, from "environmental preexistences" to use the words of his teacher Ernesto Nathan Rogers.

This detail is emblematic of relationship between the city and the studio museum, seat of the foundation that spreads out in the city through two outdoor tours:

__ the first one, dedicated to Vico Magistretti design, begins at the Triennale Design Museum and winds along the 6 showrooms of the founders companies - Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou, Oluce and Schiffini;

__ the second  one, dedicated to architecture, is composed by 14 of the most important buildings designed in Milan by Vico Magistretti.

The two tours enable visitors to gain direct access to architecture and design works of Vico Magistretti, whereas original sketches and other artefacts designed by the architect are displayed in the studio museum.

SVICOLANDO is an exhibition, under the curatorship of Simona Romano and constructed by Luca Poncellini with graphics by Davide Fornari, created to present the design circuit of the outdoor museum.

The installation consists of nine structures, which are a sort of folding screens made by wooden sticks and cardboard panels, that can be combined to form a lively wall. The screens will be placed inside the showrooms of Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou and Schiffini.

Oluce, whose showroom is not easy to reach, sets up only a digital version of the screen, which will be visible on the websites of the company (www.oluce.com) and of the foundation. The archive materials selected and printed on the boxes forming the artefact will outline the working partnership between Vico Magistretti and the companies who founded the studio museum dedicated to him.

The screens in the images are in this order: Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou, Schiffini and Oluce.
